The first weekend for Ms 50+ in Germany was held
Mensa Germany has developed a completely new event format, which took place for the first time last weekend: A relaxed and inspiring exchange and leisure weekend for Ms 50+ in Northern Germany. The 57 participants enjoyed the weekend together by the lake, listening to lectures and workshops on “High IQ discovered late (at higher age)”, “Sexocorporel – impact of sex on your body”, “Elderly people with high IQ” and other topics – what does it mean to be highly gifted and grow older? One speaker was abroad during her presentation: no problem for us, because hybrid formats are now normal for Mensa Germany. If you wanted to get a spot, you had to be quick: The event was fully booked in less than 2 days.
After successfully designing an event program for young adults (target group approx. 18 to 35) in Germany in 2017, we had long wanted to do something for older Ms as well. Some SIGs have also been organizing joint weekends for a long time. And we have a children’s and youth section with numerous different formats. Now we are proud to be able to extend our range of event types at the upper end of the age spectrum.
In Germany, in addition to event formats for everyone such as the annual gatherings, the “Mittellandtreffen” and New Year’s Eve celebrations, there are additional formats for subgroups. With more than 17,000 members, this is a logical consequence for us, so that there is something for everyone. Let’s bring Ms with all their different wishes together.
